Simon Paul draws from a rich family tradition passed on to him by his family and the people of English River First Nations in Saskatchewan. He utilizes modern materials and technology to create work that has texture and depth. With a thorough knowledge of colour theory, a graphic sensibility and a storytellers approach to his work it adapts well in many environments. The stories are both the traditional teachings which he has been raised with but also informed by his own personal struggle as a residential school survivor, a soldier, a counsellor and a teacher.
